Sustainable Practices program at CU-Boulder offers non-credit training in sustainability for working adults. Smart Grid, a mechanism to provide bidirectional communication and control between electricity providers and consumers, is the subject of great public interest as a means to enable a more efficient and renewably powered electricity infrastructure. This course provides a foundational understanding of the technologies, policies, and business opportunities associated with smart grid. The course begins with an overview of the existing grid, and dives into smart grid technologies and research, provides a case study of smart grid in Colorado, highlights critical smart grid policy considerations, and proceeds to a business-centric discussion of smart grid market opportunities, companies, and job growth potential. Cost $265. Pre-registration is required online.
