Organized By: David Braden
Latest Activity: Dec 19, 2011
This is a hands-on event in which we will go through the gardens identifying the plants we are growing for food, those plants that serve a companion function, and those plants that could compete with other plants for nutrients and/or water.
In a sheet mulch or hugelkultur we are always in need of additional organic matter. The best new mulch you will ever find is those plants that volunteer in the top of your existing mulch. They are not yet rooted in dirt so they are easy to pull and they contain just what your other plants need as they decompose right where they volunteered. But, first, you need to know which are the plants you want to grow and which are the volunteer mulch.
Price: $25.00*
*free for members of a gardening team.
The saying goes that there is no bad weather . . . only insufficient clothing. However, in the case of inclement weather we may limit the hands-on portion for safety and comfort. If an event is canceled, please consider attending on a different date . . . or consider asking David Braden to work with your team at your garden (schedule permitting).
