My favorite way to enjoy sun chokes is peeled and sliced with a little raspberry vinaigrette.  They are fresh and crispy like jicama.  Sun choke cook up like turnips and taste similar which is not my favorite flavor.

Just dug a whole colander full of jersulem artichokes / sun chokes. Now to decide what to do with them and/or how to cook them into something good.  Anyone local need some? Fence panel blew down in the wind last night and snapped off an old 4x4 and the chokes were growing in the way. Fixing fence now.

Great to see the photos from a fun day of working together to bring forth a more beautiful and natural world (Hugelkulture, March 6, 2012).  Thanks David

Hoping for a much better garden year in 2012.  Last year seemed cold late, then HOT a week later.  I also heeded the worst advice ever and TILLED.  Between that and the dessicating winds my corn got 3' high last year.  All of my cucurbits died or came in Barbie-sized.  Only the amaranth and the lufahs were happy.  I did get tomatoes and peppers late.  Must try new strategies this year.  Keyholes are looking good....

Just joined this group since it's very near by.  So... what's the latest?  [besides the snow and perhaps broken branches]  I need to get all my hoses rolled up and put into the greenhouse for the winter, but I did have a praying mantis in there (the greenhouse) the other day!  Yay!!
