Many people don't realize that the rights of those who use toxic chemical pesticides and herbicides in Boulder currently trump the rights of those of us for whom the words "local foodshed," "organic" and "permaculture" describe our vision of our best local food future. Toxic chemical pesticide and herbicide use is still widespread in the City of Boulder, making truly organic gardening and urban farming challenging at best. The City of Boulder is not allowed to ban pesticide use by residents under preemption by existing state statutes. Please visit the Boulder County Sustainable Agriculture Forum at www.facebook.com/BoCoSustAgForum to join upcoming advocacy discussions on this and related issues.
