Hello all,

I'm Johnny from Littleton and down here we wanto start an NSA!  Anybody wanto join?  Our goal is to create a Food-Secure and Sustainable Colorado (starting in SouthMetro area).  My team and I involve ourselves with food systems, water preservation and of course; clean energy options.  There are so many pieces to the 'sustainability puzzle' I know we should start now.

Right now we are sourcing urban plots of unused land to turn into sustainable food-forests.

That's just an initial step.  We already have many successes including a supply chain, tools, customers/demand, expertise, several dedicated team members, the business plan, promissory notes, a proven method and a little financing.

We are still in need of a name yet and logo, partnership with energy auditors, renewable energy installers, a truck, water purification expertise and more hands.  The potential is HUGE and our futures are guaranteed.  People all over are waking up to the facts that fresh, minimally processed and locally sourced food, water and energy makes for a healthier, more satisfying life.  Across the board people are swarming at increasing rates to farmers markets and gardens.  People want good clean water and increasingly more energy options.  Another fact is that most of the organic food in Colorado is actually grown out-of-state if not out of the country.  The market is here but the produce is not.

Please respond with any interest or comments on the above stated, I really think we got something here.  THANKS!

Warm Regards,

Johnny Roos

Just had and opportunity to see what is happening in Louisville. Great work!

It is similar in ways to what we are doing in Broomfiled, Boulder, and on South Federal in Denver.

I have some ideas about the "organizational" side and would love to compare notes about technique. Thanks for your good work.

Are there yard owners and urban farmers ready and available to help get a NSA going in North Boulder?

In honor of this group's ideal and purpose, I created an event and I hope that people will consider attending and gather for an opportunity to share and inspire one and other.

Look under events: Garden Together, a volunteer day and potluck

Are their any master gardeners or gifted organic farmers out there who would like to start an NSA in Platt Park in Denver? I have a green thumb for flowers, but haven't tried veggies. We could start with a part of my yard.

Any members in the west Highlands /Edgewater area ? My daughter and I are planning a big expansion to her yard vegetable garden and would like to met others to share ideas/plants etc. Tomorrow I am going to get a load of manure and get ready to plant the peas and spinach !!

It is the city. Someone from the LSVL Board of Conservation said that I could bring it before them.

Gerry - who owns the land? is it HOA - and if so, you will have to work with them for restrictions/permissions - that will likely be a tougher nut to crack than the City. If it's City owned land that's a whole other story - there may be liability issues. Actual permits or zoning (allowable uses) is final issue.
