Like Earth Day, celebrating the high point of the Sun(Summer Solstice) will raise awareness, understanding and alignment to Solar Energy and be a remarkable inspirational teaching tool. We can show Colorado is the leader and the Heart of Solar Energy in America. Celebrating the Sun is something everyone on the world can do regardless of Religion or nationality and it will bring people together and create a better environment.

Comment by Kelly on January 16, 2012 at 10:48pm Also FYI Sunrise Ranch will be hosting the Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course from March 30 - April 7, 2012 led by certified permaculture educator Patrick Padden. For more details on this program, including course curriculum, fees, accommodations, and registration information please follow this link:

We are also running two residential permaculture programs, to gain more hands on experience with permaculture while living in community life. The first program is a three month work-study program running mid-May through mid-August where students earn their PDC while working at Sunrise Ranch. This program is ideal for college students, especially those seeking to fulfill an internship requirement. The second program is a 7 month internship program where students spend a full growing season gaining more in-depth knowledge and experience. This program runs April 9 - Oct. 31, with the PDC as a pre-requisite. For more information about either of these residential programs, including how to apply, please follow this link: http://sunriseranch.org/farm/permaculture/residential-permaculture-...

Hello Bryant - - Best wishes for a successful launch of urbanfarmcolorado.com! I think you will have many takers for the services you offer. I suggest you make contact with http://www.homegrownfoodcolorado.org (Fort Collins offshoot of Grow Food Not Lawns) if you have not already. Meanwhile, Transition Fort Collins is a growing organization that may undertake a food initiative as well...perhaps we can help each other. May I add your name to our mailing list, for now? - - Brian
Comment by Bryant Mason on January 16, 2012 at 8:31pm Hey Fort Collins,
I'm launching an organization this spring called The Urban Farm Company of Colorado. www.urbanfarmcolorado.com.
Let me know if you'd like to contribute to this endeavor - helping individuals establish high-yield vegetable gardens all over town.

There are three meetings remaining to complete the Transition Town

All meetings will take place from 6:45-8:45pm
Tuesday 8 February - - VISIONING (Chapters 7, 8, and 9)

There is also a FREE informational talk and video by Zia Parker, from Willow Way Permaculture.
Join the movement toward sustainable living: environmentally, financially, socially. Permaculture is about designing for balanced and sustainable human settlements. There is SO MUCH that one person can do. Focus on solutions. Know where your food comes from. Let’s get sensible! Let your senses guide you... to connect to the land.
Minor Kelleys’ Home, 1012 Boltz Dr, Ft.Collins.
Feb 6th, 7:00pm-8:30pm.
Also an update of what was discussed at the last meeting.
We gathered in a circle and talked about what each of us was working on relative to Sustainablity.
Some ideas included getting Home owners associations to allow sustainable amendments to their restrictions that include bikes.
Also talked about how to build culture that celebrates sustainability and Nature.
Talked about what we could all do in our little corner of the world even if you live in an apartment.
And we also went around the circle and talked about how the current situation is making us feel and how we are dealing with it emotionally.
If you are reading this but have not actually come to a meeting...please come... and help Fort Collins develop strategies for adapting for the future.
Comment by Kelly on January 10, 2011 at 9:01pm The Transition Fort Collins group is finally gaining some momentum. The last two meeting have been attended by 30 and then 50 people. If you haven't made it to the last two meetings,
There will be a third meeting on Thursday, January 20th at 6:45 at the Mennonite Church, 300 East Oak one block from the library. Please come if you can.
Here is a summary of the recent Transition Fort Collins activity thanks to
http://kakoluri.com/tag/transition-fort-collins/
At our first meeting the idea was to get a signup list and get
everybody to buy "The Transition Handbook" by Rob Hopkins. The
meeting was at Matter Bookstore - and Matter just happened to have
the book for sale.
Meeting #2 was devoted to going over chapters 1-4 in the book.
We had a great meeting. We had the gardening folks, the climate
folks, the peak oil folks, etc.
Meeting #3 (free) is designed for us to review chapters 5 and 6.
What we do after that is anybody's guess. I think the idea is to
get everybody on the same page. Then we have to figure out what
we want.
