Longmont was named a silver community for bicycle friendliness this Spring, which is up from Bronze last year. After being away for a few years, the first thing I noticed was the increase in bicycle infrastructure when I moved back. Good for Longmont for proving that non college and smaller towns can be bicycle friendly. For a complete listing of the communities and states see

I hope Transition Longmont members will join us to stop fracking from coming into Longmont (you can sign up at: Longmont ROAR. It seems doubtful that the "regulations" will protect our health, safety and wellbeing.

Very powerful Conrad and the ideas presented are still valid even if the video comes of a little new agish in my opinion.

Here is how people need to start thinking: more in harmony with nature!

Teresa,

That was a concern we and another person raised and it seemed the homeowners around the area were more concerned about the increase in healthy based trail users than the wells.

It's quite ironic that they are doing all this work at Union Reservoir when in the near future the area is going to be fracked. Once the moratorium expires in mid-June, expect the drill rigs to rise and they will place a 8-pad well in plain view of Union reservoir - with 24/7 noise, and then when they frack, get ready for heavy flowback fugitive emissions. Top Operating never cleaned up the Rider Well next to Trail Ridge Middle School. What makes us think they'll do a better job next to Union Reservoir? All it takes is one spill and there goes our water and recreation area. Does anyone care? Not to mention the fugitive VOCs escaping from the tank battery and other apparatus! To learn more, watch this video: The Truth About Fracking - Feb 26 at Trailridge Middle School

Since Longmont needs more bike infrastructure to help reduce our dependence on dirty energy, I am posting this event here.

Public Meeting

Union Reservoir Interim Trail

Staff is gearing up to begin the design process for the Union Reservoir Interim Trail. A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Main Picnic Area at Union Reservoir. Attendees will be asked to provide input on the scope of work for potential design consultants. City staff will lead a discussion and listen to ideas regarding opportunities, constraints and potential issues that should be considered during the design of the trail project.

If you have any questions regarding the Interim Trail Project or to RSVP for the meeting, please contact Kathy Kron, Project Manager at (720) 774-4528 or via e-mail at kathy.kron@ci.longmont.co.us.
