Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Commited to almost..almost...acquisition of 100% foodstuffs from local sources. If the occasional restaurant meal does not count, then I am there.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am interested because it is necessary...or soon(ish) will be. I am interested because I am in the midst of a grand experiment: can I live, or rather eat, locally all year? An interesting challenge, and one that will be even more so come Winter.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
A number of years in human health and ecological risk assessment, including communication skills. A background in science that has resulted in an acknowledgement that living locally will be a necessary skill when facing our apparent future.

And above all, actual experimental reslts concerning the ease and expense of a (nearly) 100% local diet.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Relaying the results of my "doing" to others. Reinforce the ease of eating locally by setting an example.
Your Favorite Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Transition Movement
Nothing specific to the actual "movement", but a number of books concerning local, seasonal, and sustainable cuisine.
