What to Say - A List of Potential Topics

I can hardly believe the year 2011 is drawing to a close.  I thought I'd take some time and make a list of things that are important to me which might also be relevant to anyone on this network.  Feel free to respond with comments, ideas, suggestions or whatever.I feel so often that I am not doing enough.  I recognize the unsustainable ways in which we run our daily lives in this country and in my household.  I see it and I am part of it and I fight it and I bask in it.  I am rather emotional…See More

Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
My family and I are learning how best to adapt to a changing world. We intend to build and live in an earthship on some land in southern Colorado over the next few years (see links below). This will be my immediate family's primary effort and we will need plenty of help and have a lot to learn.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I identify with the movement because I know that the status quo is not sustainable. I want to be part of a community that is striving to bridge the gap between the current systems and the ones that will come next.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I'm not sure yet. My vocation is in software development, so I can help in any way that computer technology can assist the movement. I'm a learning gardener, a good cook, I love to ride my bike with my family and am not afraid to work hard and get dirty.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I can stay tuned in and awake to what is going on in the world. I can share my endeavors and try to get others interested.

Vampires and Gifts

I never really considered blogging much before, but have often times tried to start a journal. I write a variety of stuff, sometimes factual, sometimes pitiful. I'll try to keep any writing I do here relevant to the topic of transition.

Hubby and I started watching a movie tonight called Daybreakers. It's really not all that good, he fell asleep and I walked away to find something to read/write. The story is about the world ten years into the future after mostly all humans…

Hi Jenny,
I am not an expert yet at making Kombucha, but I am planning on bringing an expert teacher (native German man) and local business owner, Julienne's Cliffhouse Kombucha, to teach the community the right way to make it! His product was my favorite on the market in Boulder, until the FDA pulled all off the shelf, and pending approval of the new lower alcohol content formula. Until it is back in the stores, the owner is delivering cases to my door here in Boulder. If you are interested in trying some anywhere from 1 to case(s) of kombucha, pls let me know, and I can add it to my next order. It is much cheaper this way anyway (a bit over $2 per bottle) and we are supported a (wonderful) local biz! jeanine

Wellcome Jenny! We had a Contra Dance yesterday at the Crescent Grange in Broomfield. Sorry you couldn't join us. Our next gathering, as you know is garden related at David's house. Then we will be showing a documentary film the following Tuesday night at 7PM at the Crescent Grange. You and I share a connection with Chris Martenson. I've been a brigade member since 2008. Looking forward to meeting you! ... dons
