Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I am working actively on solutions to local food systems and how individual citizens or groups of citizens can re-negotiate their relationship to the conventional food system.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
We find ourselves dependent on oil for the production, processing and distribution of food. At the same time we have pushed monocultures of plants to the maximum production levels. Our farmers live on the edge of economic success. The irony is that our industrial food system produces foods that make us ill and obese.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
Visioning and Management skills. Advanced degrees, 35 years professional experience, many certifications and specific trainings. Having been born and raised Colorado gives me some perspective on the change to our local communities and landscapes.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I am very focused on the local food/agriculture efforts and I am heading up a group to create a new community food processing facility. I am also sympathetic to other projects that increase our local independence and reduce our carbon footprint.

Hi Luther, thanks for the comment. ...which disappeared when I accepted your friend request, so I don't remember exactly what it said. But no, FMG Denver is not a kitchen incubator; no kitchen facilities. We have offices for food and beverage companies; impressively clean, temperature-controlled warehouse space; and limited distribution services.

Sure, I could give a workshop on fermented foods. Perhaps in the early summer.
