2010 is the year to join a community garden - local food and fun

What a great way to meet new people and have a way to produce organic food and learn to grow it at your own home. At the Wheat Ridge Community Garden we will educate and demonstrate organic growing. Plots are inexpensive but it is a commitment. You can swap veggies with other growers if you want to. We will provide recipes and some community dinners. End childhood obesity and hunger in Colorado - community gardens together can help

Michelle Obama has come out as a spokesperson to help end childhood obesity. The stats on diabetics are really bad. In Metro Denver we need to unite to help in the re education of children and parents to eat the right food in the right amounts. This is an opportunity. How can we really work together to cover all schools in the Front Range ? We need to think like Generals and make a plan that covers every town and every school. I just wanted to let you know that Jefferson County Cooperative Extension office in Golden is hosting a presentation on "How to start a community garden" on Tuesday April 13th from 10-12 noon. The cost is $25 per organization (or for 2 people) to attend. They will also be discussing how to deal with issues that come up with starting a community garden.
