Hello People, lovely friends,
Just wanted to start by saying hi, letting you know that I have been reading an amazing book called Anastasia, (by Vladimir Megre) which is the first of a series of books called the Ringing Cedar series, and they are about the ringing cedars of the Siberian Taiga, as well as the transition that is happening there with the Dachniks, who are people with their own garden plots who are doing some beautiful work to reconnect themselves with the earth as well…

Today (Sept 22) there were serious gas shortages throughout the southeast, due to a supply disruption in the wake of Gustav and Ike. This is a peek at the future when shortages get more commonplace. The comments below seem like a snippet from some future news story, but they're not. They're from today's new story on the Atlanta Journal (www.ajc.com). It's a little eerie. Maybe we can learn something from this.
Comments from Atlantans on the gas shortage:

HERE COMES $500 OIL
If Matt Simmons is right, the recent drop in crude prices is an illusion - and oil could be headed for the stratosphere. He's just hoping we can prevent civilization from imploding.

The following speech was given at Netroots Nation 2008 in Austin, Texas.
I have a little bit of whiplash. Thirty-six hours ago I was in the Arctic with Jimmy Carter. This is not a joke, you all. (Laughter) It sounds like a joke, right? You hear about the black guy in the Arctic with Jimmy Carter? No, I was really ... (Laughter)

Victor Matioli's organic pumpkins are plump, his coriander aromatic and his spinach "very soft, sweet, and tasty". His half-acre farm is a former rubbish dump in the heart of east Africa's biggest slum.

So arresting is the sight of tall sunflowers growing amid the rust-coloured shacks and dirt paths of Kibera that Matioli and his fellow…

The financial sky is falling. Hey, that’s not my opinion; it’s news straight from the front pages of the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. America’s top mortgage companies and investment banks, and the world’s biggest insurer have either already gone bankrupt or are in the process of doing so.
For someone who wrote a book titled The Party’s Over, this…

NOTE: The press is starting to notice. Here in the U.S., look for a story this week in the Christian Science Monitor, and possibly one in the Denver Post! USA Today is also working on a story, but we don't know when it might be published. I got a note Monday from Alastair Lough in Portland, Maine, advising: "Brace yourself. A likely Tsunami of interest is nearly upon us." Tip of the hat to Teresa Foster! --Michael
